Cause Of Whispering Acres Fire Not Yet Determined

By Gordon Hopkins
The cause of the early morning fire last week at Whispering Acres Trails and Treasures remains unknown at this time, as the investigation is still ongoing.
The fire destroyed a farm house, attached garage and pond building that housed several animals. Proprietors Jill and Jamie Kuzelka got out safely. Horses, rabbits and other larger animals were reported safe as they were in the barn, which was not burned, but a number of smaller caged animals, such as reptiles, turtles and fish, which were being kept in a garage for the winter, were killed.
While the Kuzelkas made it out of the house safely and with no injuries, they were left with just the clothes on their backs and one cell phone. Donations are being collected at 801 Ash St. Fairbury or via Venmo.
As the community comes together to help the Kuzelkas, there are always those ready to take advantage of a tragedy. There are already reports of fake social media accounts and Venmo accounts attempting to divert donations. The correct Venmo account for donations is @Whisperingacres. Be sure to double check the account name as there are a number of variations.
