Clean Sweep: City Council Would Like To See Street Sweeper Used More

The street sweeper currently owned and operated by the City of Fairbury is more than 15 years old. A replacement is needed, according to a memorandum from Fairbury City Administrator Robert Messbarger presented to the Fairbury City Council, “Over the past five years, the city has used our sweeper an average of 162 hours/year. Typically it is used two full weeks in the spring and two full weeks in the fall. The average lifespan of a street sweeper is 5-7 years depending on the frequency of use.
