Losing the grant for the PWF is a blow to the county, but when one door closes, another opens.County officials are hopeful that some guidance can be provided as to why the grant was denied, which will give the county the means of correcting the application, adjusting and re-applying. This can be done, or, the county can re-evaluate priorities, and focus that energy on a different project.Yes, the PWF needs to be fully paved. However, a good portion of the PWF has been done and, if a different project has a better shot at getting a grant, the road will still be there.I trust the direction our county officials will take us. I know all of them and getting as much information as possible, looking at all sides, deciding what is best for all and making a decision has been a hallmark of their county official careers thus far.One aspect that can help guide and shape their decision-making process is, of course, having as much information as possible. If the citizens of the county really want to have an impact, they need to share their thoughts and opinions with the commissioners. This can be done in a variety of ways, most notably by attending the weekly meetings.It may or may not influence their ideas or direction, however, it shows an engaged public that is willing to work together. This is pivotal in getting projects to move forward and trust me, the people that give out grants see how involved the public is, which is important.Attend meetings. Read the paper. Share opinions, get or stay involved in the community.
