Convicted Felon Charged with Possessing Weapons

Lynn William Vieselmeyer, age 28, of Fairbury, was arraigned in Jefferson County Court on Wednesday, March 29, 2023. Linda Bauer was the presiding judge.
Vieselmeyer is charged with possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, a class 1D felony punishable by three to 50 years in prison. He is also charged with possession of a deadly weapon (a knife) by a prohibited person, a class 3 felony punishable by four years in prison and nine to 24 months of post-release supervision.
According to the Warrantless Arrest Affidavit, at approximately 6:37 p.m. On March 2 of this year, Jefferson County Communications received multiple calls about the defendant attemtping to break into a residence in Fairbury from which he had been evicted. The deputy that filled out the affidavit wrote, “Callers stated Vieselmeyer has kicked in the door and was attempting to remove guns…”
Vieselmeyer was arrested at the scene.
In 2013, Vieselmeyer was convicted in Lancaster County of burglary and theft by unlawful taking, both class 3 felonies.
As a convicted felon, the defendant is prohibited from possessing a firearm or other deadly weapons.
Vieselmeyer requested court-appointed counsel and Public Defender Scott Gropp was assigned to represent him.
Another hearing is scheduled for April 12.
