Jefferson County ArrestJody W. Duke, age 40, was was arrested on Thursday, December 14, 2023, after two bench warrants were issued for his arrest. Duke scheduled to be arraigned in Jefferson County Court on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, but failed to appear. A warrant was issued for his arrest. Duke is charged with attempt of a class 1 misdemeanor, which is a class 2 misdemeanor, and criminal mischief, which is a class 3 misdemeanor. A warrant was also issued out of Jefferson County District Court after he failed to appear for court. In that case, Duke is facing a felony for failing to update his address with Nebraska Sex Offender Registry. This is not the first time he has been accused of this offense, making the charge a class 3A felony.In Jefferson County CourtChristopher Scolari appeared in Jefferson County via webcam from the Jefferson County Jail on Wednesday December 13, 2023. Linda Bauer was the presiding judge. There were no charges on file as of his court appearance but he was arrested for assault by strangulation. If the county attorney chooses to file a charge as such, that is a class 3A felony.Jessica Evans, age 49, appeared in Jefferson County via webcam from the Jefferson County Jail. There were no charges on file as of her court appearance but she was arrested for possession of methamphetamine after the execution of a search warrant on Monday, December 6 of this year. Possession of methamphetamine is a class 4 felony, punishable by two years in prison and one year of post-release supervision.Cameron D. May, age 54, appeared in Jefferson County Court on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, via webcam from the Reception and Treatment Center of the Nebraska State Penitentiary. May was arraigned on a charge of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, a class 1D felony punishable by three to 50 years in prison.In Gage County CourtTony C. Mathews, age 43, of Fairbury, pleaded No Contest to criminal mischief and leaving the scene of an accident, both class 2 misdemeanors, as well as first degree criminal trespass and attempt of a class 4 felony, both class 1 misdemeanors. A charge of burglary, a class 2A felony, was dismissed. Sentencing is scheduled for March 15, 2024.Jackie Swearingen, age 39, of Wymore, was fined $100 for driving under a suspended license.Dalton J. Johnson, age 23, of Blue Springs, was fined $250 for reckless driving and $75 for a stop sign violation.In Gage County District CourtBrandon T. Dunn, age 29, of Fairbury, is charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance, one for methamphetamine and the other for methylphenidate hydrochloride, a scheduled 2 prescription drug. Both charges are class 4 felonies. He was also charged with possessing drug paraphernalia, an infraction. Dunn pleaded Not Guilty.
