Dale Eugene Hinz

Dale Eugene Hinz of Kearney, Nebraska, passed away on January 14, 2024, at the age of 86 years. A memorial service will be on Friday, January 19, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at the Cornerstone Berean Church in Kearney, Nebraska, with Pastor Kelly Larsen and Pastor Bob Gannon officiating.

Dale was born on May 13, 1937, in Beatrice, Nebraska, the second of eight children born to Harvey and Hilka (Holz) Hinz.

Dale grew up and farmed southwest of Plymouth, Nebraska. On May 13, 1961, Dale was united in marriage to Carol Ann Andrews. Dale and Carol enjoyed over 62 years of marriage; and to this union, five children were born: Rodney, Scott, Todd, Angela, and Kent. 

Dale farmed until 1985 at which time he moved with his family to Holdrege, Nebraska, where he started Hinz Trucking with his sons. In 2002, Dale retired from the trucking business; and in 2007, Dale and Carol moved to Kearney, Nebraska. In addition to working at Hinz Trucking, Dale was able to pursue his farming passion by helping his son-in-law, Jim, irrigate and harvest for many years. In his retirement, he was also able to help at Kent’s mail business. 

Family was very important to Dale. He loved spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Dale loved the Lord Jesus, accepting Christ as his personal Savior early in his marriage while listening to Christian radio. Over the years he was an active member of Jansen Bible Church in Jansen, Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Holdrege, and Cornerstone Berean Church in Kearney. 

Beside his parents, Dale was proceeded in death by his brother, Richard Hinz; sister, Janice Bors; brothers-in-law, Alfred Andrews and Mike Thompson; sisters-in-law, Barbara Andrews and Sherrie Andrews; and granddaughter, Jessica Hinz. 

Dale leaves to celebrate his life his wife, Carol; his children: Rod (Deone) Hinz of Kearney; Scott (Sandra) Hinz of Peoria, AZ; Todd Hinz of Kearney; Angie (Jim) Palmer of Elm Creek, NE; and Kent (Stacie) Hinz of Smithville, MO; grandchildren: Alec Hinz of Kearney; Elizabeth Hinz of Kearney; Matt Hinz of Peoria, AZ; Katelyn (Jordan) Patterson of Minden, NE; Mitchell (Lindsey) Palmer of Elm Creek, NE; Courtney (Connor) Bliss of Kearney; Jason Palmer of Elkhorn, NE; and Colby Hinz of Smithville, MO; great-grandchildren: Kollyns and Crew Patterson; Andrew, Nora, and Halle Palmer; and Bowen Bliss; brother, Milton (Helen) Hinz of York, NE; sisters: Stella (Art) Beatham of Tucson, AZ; Irene Thompson of Fort Worth, TX; Viola Howard of Grovetown, GA; and Nora (Jim) Engelman of Port Washington, WI; brothers-in-law: Allen (Carol) Bors of Lincoln, NE; Ervin Andrews of Omaha, NE; Jerry (Karolyn) Andrews of Wichita, KS; and Keith (Ramona) Andrews of Geneva, NE; along with a host of nephews, nieces, and friends.
