Dates for City Wide Cleanup, Free Dump Days, Free Swim Days Set

The Fairbury City Council set the dates for some highly anticipated annual events.
City Wide Clean Up
Every year, normally on the fourth week in April, the Public Works Department organizes a City Wide Cleanup for sanitation customers. A memorandum from Development Services Director Laura Bedlan, “Overall, total tonnage hauled has been on a downward trend.” Nevertheless, it is still a widely utilized event.
The City Wide Cleanup for 2025 will be held on April 21, 22 and 23.

Free Dump Days
Historically, the week following City Wide Cleanup, the Public Works Department business cleanup week called Free Dump Days. The event allows customers to dump for free at the transfer station.
Free Dump Days will be held April 28 through May 2.

Free Swim Days
The City of Fairbury’s current plan is to fill the Fairbury Waterpark in early May 2025 and is proposing the 2025 season with an opening date of Saturday, May 24, 2025. City staff recommends the pool closing date be scheduled for the Sunday, August 10, 2025, before the students’ first day of school. Staff is proposing the following hours of operation and free swim days. Pricing is proposed to remain the same as last year. The proposed hours of operation are: Sunday through Thursday, 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.; Friday and Saturdays, 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
The city council approved free swim days for June 2, and August 4, 2025, both Mondays.
