Diller Man Arrested for Drug and Weapon Charges

Justin B. Cribbs, 46, of Diller, appeared in Jefferson County Court via webcam from the Jefferson County Jail on Wednesday, August 23, 2025. Linda Bauer was the presiding judge.There are no charges currently on file but Cribbs was arrested Tuesday, August 6, for possession of methamphetamine and possession of a deadly weapon by a felon, a clas 3 felony punishable by up to four years in prison. Nebraska law prohibits an individual with a felony conviction from possessing a deadly weapon. On January 21, 2019, Cribbs was sentenced to 90 days in jail and 12 months of probation after pleading guilty to possession of a controlled substance, a class 4 felony.When asked if he wanted an attorney, Cribbs declined, saying he didn't need one, “It was just a stupid knife.” At that point, Judge Bauer advised the defendant not to talk about the facts of the case.Cribbs was being held on a $20,000 (10 percent) bond. He indicated he could not pay that amount but could “maybe pay $250.”County Attorney Joseph Casson said he would not oppose “some reduction” but opposed the amount Cribbs had asked for. Judge Bauer agreed to reduce the bond to $7,500 (10 percent).Cribbs then indicated he had changed his mind and would like court appointed counsel and Public Defender Scott Gropp was assigned to the case.Cribbs is scheduled to be arraigned on August 20. This is not Cribbs’ first run in with the law. In addition to the felony conviction, he was sentenced to 180 days in jail by Jefferson County District Court judge Vicky Johnson in 2020. Cribbs was originally charged with possession of a controlled substance, a class 4 felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia, an infraction. In accordance with a plea agreement, Cribbs pleaded No Contest to a reduced charge of attempt of a class 4 felony, which is a class 1 misdemeanor.
