Diller-Odell Gives Certified Staff, Administration Raises

The Diller-Odell School Board felt it was time. After dealing with the pandemic and other matters concerning staff and administrators, the board approved a four percent raise for certified staff at the February school board meeting. “After two long years, I think our classified staff is deserving of a four percent raise,” Mike Meyerle, Superintendent of Diller-Odell said, adding he suggested a $5 per route raise to each bus driver.As for administrative salaries, Meyerle and Matt Mezger, principal at Diller-Odell, noted a four percent raise for the next two years was also warranted. Meyerle noted that Diller-Odell teachers are fourth in their array (a collection of other similar districts in the state to provide ‘apples to apples’ comparisons on items like salaries), and Mezger was also fourth in the array for principals. Meyerle said with the raise, he would still not reach fourth in the array for superintendents.Next year Meyerle would be at $144,560 and Mezger $110,240 and the following year Meyerle would have a salary of $152, 242 and Mezger would be $114,650.It was noted in the meeting that Mezger is presently taking classes to work toward becoming a superintendent. Meyerle hopes to keep Mezger in the community to someday take over for him as superintendent.“I want his next job to be here. Seems to me consistency has paid dividends for our school district. You look at some districts and it is three years, three years, three years,” Meyerle said. “I am at year 10 as a superintendent and I see consistency as a strength, not a weakness.” Meyerle has been a teacher, activities director, principal and superintendent at Diller-Odell.The board voted for the administration raises.
