Dr. Timmons Resigns From FPS

Dr. Jill Timmons, Ph.D., NCSP, school psychologist and behavior specialist for Fairbury Public Schools, has resigned her position with the school district.FPS Superintendent Stephen Grizzle confirmed the resignation last week. He told FJN, “She has done a tremendous amount of work over the last five years with our district. We wish her well with her future endeavors.”Dr. Timmons was hired in 2017. FJN spoke to her at that time, and she said as her family grew, she wanted to get to a smaller community from Lincoln, where she had previously worked.“My husband and I knew that Lincoln Public Schools were just too big of high schools,” she said. “We wanted a place to put our children in a small town.”“We are so appreciative of everyone being so welcoming here,” Timmons said.She is also a past president of the Nebraska School Psychologists Association.When asked if the school will be hiring a replacement, Grizzle said, “Yes, we have advertised the position and hope to have it filled soon.”FJN reached out to Dr. Timmons to ask about her future plans. She did not indicate where she would be working but said, “I am excited to share that I have been hired as an assistant professor and look forward to my work training future teachers.”“I have so very much appreciated my time with Fairbury Public Schools and I’m proud of the work we accomplished. My heart has always been and will always be in education, and specifically the care and education of those students requiring and deserving additional help. Even though I am leaving, I will continue to be an advocate for all students in Fairbury,” Timmons told FJN. “I have been touched and overwhelmed by all the messages I have received from colleagues, parents and community members. There are so many wonderful supporters of Fairbury Public Schools! I want to also thank all those who have supported our work here, especially the special education staff. They are remarkable, hard working teachers who will continue to do great work and continue to be some of my dearest friends and respected colleagues.”
