Endicott Man Faces Multiple Drug Charges

An Endicott man appeared in court facing various drug charges in two cases.Carson R. York, age 20, was arraigned in Jefferson County Court on Wednesday, March 8, 2023. Linda Bauer was the presiding judge.York is charged with five counts. The most serious is possession of a controlled substance, a class 3A felony punishable by up to three years in prison and a $10,000 fine. He is also charged with driving under a suspended license, possession of less than one pound but more than one ounce of marijuana and minor in possession of alcohol. All three are class 3 misdemeanors punishable by up to three months in jail and a $500 fine. In additional,York is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, an infraction that carries a $100 fine.According to the arrest affidavit, York was arrested in Fairbury on December 19,2022 after he was observed driving by a deputy who was aware York's driver's license was suspended.After a traffic stop, the vehicle was searched. The affidavit indicates deputies found “five full cans of Bud Light beer in the back of the truck,” two pills with markings that identified them as Alprazolam, the generic version of Xanax, and a book safe containing a, “green leafy substance in the safe, a glass marijuana pipe with burnt marijuana.”The affidavit also notes six firearms were found in the vehicle, an AR-15 .223 rifle, H&R .22 caliber rifle, a Western Field 12-gage shotgun, an Ithaca Model 37 20-gage shotgun, a Ruger .280 rifle and a Remington 30-06.York requested court-appointed counsel and Public Defender Scott Gropp was assigned to represent him.Gropp also represents York in a separate case. York is again charged with driving under a suspended license and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is also charged with possession of less than one ounce of marijuana, an infraction that carries a $300 fine.York Pleaded not guilty.Another hearing is set for April 12.
