Fairbury Man Arrested for Intent to Distribute Meth

A Fairbury man was arrested earlier this week for possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute.
Ryan Gray, appeared in Jefferson County Court on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, via webcam from the Jefferson County Jail. Linda Bauer was the presiding judge.
In addition, Gray is accused of possession within 1,000 feet of a school.
There was no charged yet on file. Judge Bauer informed the defendant that the allegations could carry a penalty of up to 50 years in prison.
The defendant asked for court-appointed counsel and public defender Scott Gropp was assigned to represent him.
Gropp advised his new client that the charges could changed depending on how the county attorney decides to charge him.
Judge Bauer asked for bond recommendations and Jefferson County Attorney Joseph Casson asked for $100,000 (10 percent).
“To be honest, I probably can’t post anything,” said Gray, who asked for a PR (Personal Recognizance) bond. He added, “I’m not going anywhere.”
Judge Bauer said a PR bond was not appropriate given the nature and circumstances of the allegations but agreed to a lower bond, $75,000 (10 percent).
Arraignment is scheduled for February 28, 2024.
