Fairbury Man Arrested for Missing Court Again

A Fairbury man is under arrest once again after failing to appear for court.Joshua V. Poley, age 30, was scheduled to appear in Jefferson County Court for two cases on Wednesday, February 11, 2026. Linda Bauer, the presiding judge, issued a warrant for the defendant’s arrest. Poley was arrested later that same day. In one case, Poley was charged with driving while his license was revoked, a class 2 misdemeanor punishable by up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine. He pleaded guilty but has not yet been sentenced. He has previously been convicted of multiple counts of driving without a valid license.In the other case, Poley was charged with possession of a controlled substance and tampering with physical evidence, each a class 4 felony punishable by Deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff's office conducted a traffic stop on March 16, 2024, at approximately 11:06 p.m. in Fairbury, reportedly due to defective vehicle lighting.Poley, who had an active warrant out of Jefferson County at that time, was a passenger in the vehicle.According to the arrest affidavit, a small plastic bag was located “inside a Burger King drink in the center console cup holder,” and “The melted self-seal plastic bag contained a white crystal-like substance, which I know to be consistent with methamphetamine. A preliminary field test was conducted on the crystal substance, revealing a presumptive positive for methamphetamine.”Poley was arrested at the scene.
