Fairbury Man Pleads Not Guilty To Sexual Assault of a Child

Dylan L. Busing, age 29, of Fairbury, was arraigned in Jefferson County District Court the morning of Thursday, March 2, 2023, in the custody of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. David J.A. Bargen was the presiding judge.
Busing is charged with first degree sexual assault of a child, a class 1B felony, punishable by a minimum of 20 years and up to life in prison.
Because the alleged victim is a minor, the arrest affidavit and other court documents are under seal.
Busing pleaded Not Guilty.
The defendant is represented by attorney Benjamin Murray, who requested a bond reduction.
In Jefferson County Court, a bond was originally set at $750,000 (10 percent). It was later reduced to $250,000 (10 percent). Murray noted that Busing has not prior criminal history and said, “My client has no ability to pay.”
County Attorney Joseph Casson opposed any further reduction.
Judge Bargen denied the motion, “Given the gravity of the charge.”
Another hearing is scheduled for May 4, 2023. Busing remains in custody as of press time.
