Fairbury Man Sentenced for Three Year Old Case

A Fairbury man was sentenced this week on a three year old case.Jordan Joshua Pingel, age 25, appeared in Jefferson County Court via webcam from the Jefferson County jail on Wednesday, March 26, 2025. Linda Bauer was the presiding judge. Jordan Joshua Pingel, age 25, of Fairbury, appeared via webcam from the Jefferson County jail on Wednesday, February 12, 2025. Linda Bauer was the presiding judge.Pingel was originally charged with violating a protection order, a class 1 misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail and a $1,000 fine. According to the Warrantless Arrest Affidavit, Pingel spoke to a deputy at the Jefferson County Law Enforcement Center on January 16, 2022, to discuss an incident that occurred earlier that day involving the protected party. Pingal had been served with the protection order on January 12, 2022. He was arrested that same day.The affidavit provides no details as to the alleged incident that lead to Pingel's arrest.The defendant failed to appear for court on July 13, 2022 and a warrant was issued for his arrest. Pingel was taken into custody by the Jefferson County Sheriff's office on January 27, 2025. In accordance with a plea agreement, Pingel pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of attempted violation of a protection order, a class 2 misdemeanor that carries a punishment of up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine. Judge Bauer sentenced Pingel to 90 days in jail, with credit for 50 days time served. That sentence runs concurrently with Pingel sentenced in a District Court case, which he is serving.District Court Case Pingel is scheduled to be sentenced in his District Court case on March 6, 2025.In his District Court case, Pingel was originally charged with Terroristic threats, a class 3A felony punishable by three years in prison, nine to 18 months of post-release supervision and a $10,000 fine.
