Fairbury Volleyball 3-0 with Hot Start to Season

Fairbury Lady Jeffs volleyball move to (3-0) after hard earned victories against Milford and Auburn.It took the Lady Jeffs to five sets to put away the Milford Eagles but Fairbury showed grit, no quit, and poise in a great night of volleyball action on Tuesday August 30th. The first set a dominating one that Fairbury won handily 25-12. In the second set, after reaching a deficit of 16-23, a timeout called by Fairbury allowed them to refocus and make a good run that was inevitability halted by a call by officials that could have gone either way, but went in favor of Milford giving them the 2nd set 23-25. Fairbury would bounce back to win the 3rd set 25-20, lose the 4th set with Milford taking that one again 23-25, and the last set going to Fairbury 15-10.A great team effort with the duo of Alyse Petersen and Allison Davis each reaching double digits with assists as Petersen had 21 and Davis came away with 10. Those two Seniors along with fellow Senior Mikya Lierman each served two aces and Senior Hannah Robertson served one ace as well. The Lady Jeffs offensive attack was led by Allison Davis and Senior Emily Huss racking up the double digits with kills as Davis had 17 and Huss with 11.Freshman Destiny Vocelka had a great showing as she finished with eight kills and Alyse Petersen was able to get seven. Fairbury looked to carry this momentum into Auburn on Thursday September 1st.The Lady Jeffs did just that, but not without a fight as the first set, a close one that Auburn pulled out the victory 23-25. Fairbury answered by winning three straight sets in dominating fashion with the 2nd set going 25-11, the 3rd set 25-15, and the 4th set 25-21 to cap off a great week for Fairbury.The Lady Jeffs will be hosting Thayer Central on Tuesday, September 6th.
