FHS Girls Track Squad Win Second Straight Invite

For the Fairbury Jeffs a great outing on the track this week as the season is on the back half with many athletes pulling it together. Fairbury’s track teams had a great outing at the Dan Tesar Invitational on April 19 with the girls track team becoming back-to-back invitational winners due to the efforts this year by scoring 162 points, and boys had improved from placing sixth as a team last year to placing runner-up at the invitational this year getting 76 points. Top placings for the Lady Jeffs came by Mikya Lierman besting her own school record and setting a new one with the height of 10’09’’ placing 1st while with Jami Mans not far behind her placing second and Lily Davis with fifth. Staying strong vertically were the Jeffs as Allison Davis placed first in the high jump getting a new PR with the height 5’00’’. Triple and long jump with similar results as Regan Kapke would place second in the triple jump with 30-9½ and Madison Ohlde placing fourth setting a PR at 29’5”. Hannah Robertson placed second in the long jump with a leap of 14’11”. The relay team of the 4×800 with Sam Starr, Madison Ohlde, Lily Davis, and Mariel Ramos placed second running 11:16.52.A trio of Jeffs took the top three spots in the 300m hurdles with Emily Huss taking first running :52.40, Jami Mans placing second, and Karly McCord with third. Mans would end up taking first place running :17.25. The dashes with similar results as Hannah Robertson placed second in the 200m with a time :29.16, in the 400m dash Sam Starr placed third. Starr would cap off her day by taking first place in the 800m run with a 2:37.78 time. Alissa York would manage to place second in the 3200m run along with Mariel Ramos coming in at 4th. The boys for Fairbury track had a good outing in the field events, though top placings were fewer, the Jeffs made their presence known as Jax Biehl placed second in the high jump. The running events were another story as the Jeffs were able to get a good start with the 4×100m relay team with James Olds Zane Grizzle, Alex Buxton and Noah Hyson took third running :47.07. Alex Buxton was great in the hurdles again placing second in the 110m hurdles and third in the 300m hurdles. Devon Carel was able to place first in the 400m dash with a time :52.50 and was able to get second in the 800m run. The duo of Zane Grizzle and James Olds found themselves in top finishes in the 100m dash with Grizzle taking first running :11.84 and Olds placing third with :11.99. W-CWilber-Clatonia Wolverines track proved to be ready for Tesar Invitational as the boys track team would become back-to-back year winners of the invitational and the girls track team would improve from sixth place last year to placing third as a team this year. For the boys, there seemed to be numerous Wolverines with top place finishes with Mason Combs placing first in the triple jump with 42’2”, first in the long jump with 20’½”, in high jump with a height of 5’10’’ and first in the 200m dash with a time :24.24. Right behind Combs was fellow teammate Carter Skelba placing second in both the triple and long jump. The pole vault was won by Ashton Pulliam vaulting to a height of 13’06’’. The throwing events had Tyson Kreshel place third in the discus. Kreshel was second in the shot put (48’2 ½”) and Kotas placed third. The relays dominant as the 4×400m relay team of Cash Keslar, Jonathon Zoubek, Ashton Pulliam, and Houston Broz took first with a time 3:40.39, the 4×800m relay team with Logan Herndon, Owe McCright, Gavin Vlcan, and Jonathon Zoubek finished second running 9:39.20. The hurdles no different with Broz taking first in the 300m hurdles with :43.51. Broz would also have atop placing in the 110m hurdles finishing first (:16.38). Broz would go on to place second in the 400m dash. The distance running had Jonathon Zoubek winning the 800m with a time 2:08.72.The W.C. girls track were led by Aspen Oliver taking first in the discus throwing 120’6” setting a new PR, and Jera Schuerman was able to get thirrd setting a PR with 104’5”. Oliver would place second in the shot put with 34’5” setting a new PR in that event.The 4×400m relay made of Schuerman Breanna Spilker, Lena Eschiti, and Alexa Landeros took second running 4:43.49. Carly Rains was third in the 100m hurdles with :18.45 and Schuerman was able to place second in the 800m run. Tri CountyTri County Trojans track team shows some solid performances from both boys and girls as each team finished third overall at the Tesar Invite. Carter Siems placed third in the triple jump setting a new PR with the distance 38’8 ¾”.A trio of Trojans in the pole vault came away with great efforts as Tayden Gronemeyer placed second, Colton Bales with third and Cole Spahr at fourth. In the 4×400m relay for Tri County with Grant Lewandowski, Dustin Kapke, Ben Holsing, Carter Siems running a time of 3:51.94 gave them second place. Ben Holsing placed second in the 300m hurdles running :44.27. Carter Holtmeier was able to get second in the 3200m run clocking the time 11:17.44.The 800m run had Carter Siems take third running 2:10.97.For the Tri County girls track team, Catrina Washburn would leap away with first place setting a new PR for triple jump getting 31’6 ½”. Morgan Stokebrand was able to finish in the top three in both throwing events as she placed second in the discus with a new PR reaching a distance 107’, and in the shop put set a new PR with 33’7” getting her third place. Another meet was another first place finish for the Tri County 4×800m relay with Cassidy Thavenet, Ellie Peters, Karli Scherling, and Aubrey Siems running 11:11.31. The 4×400m relay of Ella Clark, Kenzie Strein, Abbie Drewese, and Ashton Schwisow would take first as well running 4:42.16. Ella Clark dashed her way to second in the 400m dash with 1:06.83.
