Jami Mans 194 points: For Jami Mans, a career of being active in three sports and making an impact was something she was familiar with throughout her high school career. Since 2018, when Fairbury Journal News at implemented the point-base system, the highest score recorded was 64 points.Jami Mans not only was the first athlete to break past 100 points, but doubled the record for highest points achieved by any athlete of the year. Her total was 194 total points. In her final season of basketball she led the team in rebounds, assists, and steals, she was able to make herself a multiple time state track qualifier in the 100m hurdles, but if someone was to ask what she did best, that would be the sport of softball.Mans at the end of her career now holds a lucky number of 13 softball records for herself and is tied for two other records for the Fairbury Lady Jeffs softball.In a single season alone, she holds the records of having a batting average of (.543), wins pitching in a season with 28, two no hitters, and shares the hitting records of doubles with 15, and runs in a season with 59. A career (.460) batting average, 188 runs, 182 hits, 112 RBI, a (.534) on base percentage, 42 doubles and 22 home runs. Those were the offensive records, on defense Mans had a career that was just as good amassing 410 strikeouts, 70 wins on the mound, and 18 shutouts leaving a legacy that set quite a standard.With her point totals, Mans is the Fairbury Journal-News overall Athlete of the Year.
