Central City Scores Win Over JeffsThe Fairbury Jeffs could not slow down Central City losing 6-62 on Friday, September 29.Notable performances from Fairbury came by the efforts of Jacob Nippert completing five-of-12 passes for 37 yards with one interception, Korey Nippert had four receptions for 22 yards, and Jaret Wood with 18 carries had 41 yards with one rushing touchdown.Defensively Riley Arner led the team with eight tackles, Korey Nippert had six tackles, while Noah Hyson and Trace Goosman each had five tackles.Fairbury will be on the road as they head to St. Paul on Friday. Titans Lose First Game Of SeasonOffensively, the Thayer Central Titans could not get on track as they suffered their first loss of the season on the road Friday with the final score reaching 8-44 against Exeter-Milligan/Friend.Notable performances from the Titans came by way of Sam Souerdyke with 16 carries going for 89 yards scoring one rushing touchdown.On defense Thayer Central had five Titans reach double digits with tackles, Nate Burd leading the team with 21 tackles, Sam Souerdyke was able to get 17 tackles, Brady Degenhardt had 16 tackles, Cole Voderstrasse finished with 13 tackles and David Johnson had 11 tackles.Thayer Central will be looking to get back on track as they hit the road Friday going against Freeman. Wolverines Scratch Out WinThe Wilber-Clatonia Wolverines defense comes alive in a strong outing at home as they defeated Tri County Trojans with the final score reaching 34-14 on September 29.W-C nearly doubled their opponents in total plays as W-C finished with 62 in comparison to Tri County who had 36. W-C main source of offense came from the ground as the team racked up a total of 292 yards rushing, along with some air attack as they had 96 yards in the air.Carter Skleba connected on nine of his 14 pass attempts, finished with no interceptions and had two passing touchdowns, both of which were caught by Cash Keslar who ended his night with four receptions for 57 yards.The duo connected in the air, but also made an impact on the ground as Skleba had 17 carries going for 159 yards and had two rushing touchdowns to lead the team while Keslar had eight carries as he rushed for 22 yards with one rushing touchdown. Carson Radcliff also contributed eight carries for 66 yards.Defensively Jordan Marsh had a great game with five tackles, one of which was a sack, Aiden Zajicek had five tackles with one being for a loss, Caden Parham had seven tackles, Jorge Vazquez had two tackles with one of those being a sack as well, and Carter Skleba was able to come away with one interception.W-C, now winners of two straight, will be home looking for the same success as they're hosting Centennial on Friday.Griffins Drop Hard-Fought GameDiller-Odell Griffins lose a heart-breaker in the final seconds against Lourdes Central Catholic as the final score reached 14-22 on September 29.D-O will be back on the road as they go against Bruning-Davenport/Shickley on Friday.Raiders Explode For 50 Against FreemanSouthern Raiders able to pull off the 50-20 victory against Freeman with a balanced attack on September 29.The Raiders offense was led by Cooper Warford connecting on seven of his 10 pass attempts good for 146 yards with three passing touchdowns.On the receiving end of those touchdown passes was Cysn Singleton and Lyndon Salts as each had two receptions, Singleton's two catches went for 27 yards with both being touchdown receptions as Salts had one touchdown reception while Tony Pruneda had three receptions going for 60 yards.On the ground Cooper Warford led the team with 13 carries as he rushed for 78 yards and scored one rushing touchdown.Austin March, Carsen Goes, and Lyndon Salts each were able to score one rushing touchdown, Salts came in second for the team in rushing as he had 74 yards rushing.On the defensive side Kale Ames was able to lead the team with 15 total tackles, 11 of them being solo as four of those tackles were for a loss, three of which were sacks. Carsen Goes also reached double digits in tackling as he had en even 10 tackles.The trio consisting of Cooper Warford, Paxx Adams, and Lyndon Salts each had five tackles.Southern looks to carry this momentum on the road as they will be against Palmyra on October 6. Meridian Loses High Scoring GameMeridian Mustangs can't contain the run game of Lewiston as they lose 60-81 in six man football action on Friday, September 29.Meridian will be on the road as they go against Parkview Christian on Friday, October 6. Trojans Drop To W-CTri County Trojans unable to slow the run game of Wilber-Clatonia losing 14-34 on Friday.Notable performances from Tri County came by the efforts of Dusty Kapke completing six of 12 pass attempts for 71 yards with one interception and one touchdown with that reception going to Cael Washburn with his one catch in the game going for 25 yards. John Wehrman on his two carries that went for 18 yards on the ground found himself in the end-zone with one rushing touchdown.The duo of Cael Washburn and Ibrahim Castillo each finished with nine tackles, one of which was for a loss. Drew Siems, Jackson Kirchoff, John Wehrman, and Dusty Kapke each had six tackles as well.Head Coach Brett Scheiding was able to provide some thoughts from the Friday night saying, “Offensively pretty anemic, which I felt told the story for parts of the game, but didn’t realize the discrepancy. I loved our effort on nearly every play, but we have to get better with executing at each position to make things go. We have to make strong strides hear over the next few weeks to be more efficient and control the ball better than we have the last couple of weeks. Ultimately, I’m proud of how our kids battled, but disappointed in how things turned out Friday night.”
