MeridianThe Meridian Mustangs look to hit the road as they face Red Cloud on Friday, September 27.Titans Win Big In OTThe Thayer Central Titans had enough in the reserve to grab a win at home against Sutton with the final score reaching 42-36 on Friday (Sept. 20).A mirror effort with each team scoring eight points in the first quarter, Thayer Central would have a touchdown but no conversion in the second quarter to grab the lead. During the fourth quarter Thayer Central would only score 14 points to Sutton scoring 20 points to force overtime. Thayer Central would score six in overtime to put the finishing touches on a hard fought victory.The offensive charge was led by Sam Souerdyke as he would score a total of five touchdowns in the game. On 28 carries going for 229 yards with an average of 8.2 yards per carry, Souerdyke would score four rushing touchdowns, and with two receptions would take one for 61 yards being the one touchdown pass thrown by the Titans.Laken Wiedel was able to take 19 carries for 110 yards with six yards per carry while scoring one rushing touchdown and completed seven passes on 10 attempts for 109 yards with one interception and one touchdown thrown. Lukas Kroll was able to lead the team with four receptions going for 37 yards.On the defensive side, Colton Kuhlman and Sam Souerdyke would each grab 15 tackles to lead the team. Lukas Kroll was able to have a dozen tackles, David Johnson had 11 tackles with two being for a loss and Carson Mclaughlin just missed on double digits with nine tackles. McLaughlin and Souerdyke were each able to grab one interception as well.Thayer Central bounced back with a great win and now looks to hit the road as they will be facing Sandy Creek on Friday. Trojans Can’t Contain Sandy CreekThe Tri County Trojans could not slow down Sandy Creek on Friday, Sept. 20 as the final score reached 6-59. Tri County will look for answers as they hit the road facing Southern on Friday. Wolverines Show Grit In First Victory.The Wilber-Clatonia Wolverines battled to complete the comeback and grab the first win on the season winning 33-28 against Fillmore Central on Friday, Sept. 20.The Wolverines were led on the offensive end with Cash Keslar as he would rack up a total of 278 yards. On 12 carries, Keslar would run for 151 yards with one rushing touchdown as he would break off a run going for 94 yards. On the receiving end, Moss-like numbers as Keslar would lead the team with three receptions and finished with 127 yards and two receiving touchdowns.Crew Pulliam would finish with three of seven passes completed with 81 yards, one interception and two passing touchdowns. Aven Smith went two for two on his pass attempts gaining 69 yards and threw one passing touchdown. Aidan Zajicek would have two receptions for 10 yards and Zach Marsh had one reception go for three yards with one receiving touchdown.For the W-C defense a trio of Wolverines were able to reach double digits on tackles, Cooper Palmer leading the team with 15 tackles, Gab Klabenes was able to grab 11 tackles, and Zach Marsh would have 10 tackles.W-C will be looking to carry this momentum with them on the road as they’ll be facing Auburn on Friday. Jeffs Shut Out In LossThe Fairbury Jeffs could not find their rhythm as they were shut out against Milford on Friday, Sept. 20 with a final score 0-49.Notable efforts from the Jeffs in that game was getting 126 rushing yards as a team with Dalton VanLaningham having 11 carries for 47 yards, Korey Nippert had seven carries go for 48 yards and Jaret Wood was able to have five carries go for 40 yards.Fairbury will look find answers sooner than later by hosting Syracuse on Friday. Raiders Lose Offensive ShootoutThe Southern Raiders were unable to slow down E.M.F as they lost 28-60 on Sept. 20.Top efforts for Southern came by Pax Adams as he would complete 15 of his 21 pass attempts for 131 yards with three passing touchdowns. Cooper Warford led the team with nine receptions going for 96 yards with two receiving touchdowns, with Alex Meece having two catches go for 20 yards and one receiving touchdown while Kolton Ideus had two receptions go for eight yards.On the defensive side Ideus would lead the team with six tackles, Carsen Goes had five, while the do of Pax Adams and Cooper Warford each had four tackles.Southern will look to regroup at home as they host Tri County on Friday.
