Nebraska City Downs JeffsThe Fairbury Jeffs could not keep pace at home as they lost 7-21 against Nebraska City on Oct. 18. Fairbury would score first in the game in the first quarter with a pitch to Dalton Vanlaningham. Vanlaningham took seven carries for 18 yards and scored one rushing touchdown. Leading the Jeffs on the ground was Korey Nippert taking his dozen carries for 50 yards and completed 10-of-20 passes for 106 yards. Tanner Neumiller led the team with three receptions that went for 39 yards while Nic Smith had two receptions going for 47 yards.Defensively Fairbury had Jaret Wood had a great night to lead the team with nine tackles, forced one fumble and recovered three fumbles on the night. The duo of Trace Goosman and Konrad Kuzelka each had eight tackles with one being for a loss, with Goosman getting a sack.Fairbury will hit the road for the last game of the season facing Falls City on Friday. Wolverines Stretch StreakThe Wilber-Clatonia Wolverines make it three wins in a row as they won 49-27 at home on Oct. 18 against Falls City. For the W-C offense, 380 yards in total with 276 being accounted for on the ground. Taking the bulk of carries for the Wolverines was Cash Keslar with 32 carries going for 197 yards and three rushing touchdowns. Keslar would also complete one-of-two passes for 25 yards with one of those passes going for a touchdown. Aven Smith completed his one pass attempt going for 69 yards for a touchdown. Ryan Marsh and Zach Marsh brought down those touchdown passes as Ryan would have two receptions for 79 yards and Zach would have one reception go for 25 yards. Zach would also take 12 carries for 69 yards and scored one rushing touchdown.Defensively for W-C Gabe Klabenes led the team with nine tackles, three being for a loss while Ty Roesler had seven tackles, with one tackle for being a loss and had blocked one kick. Cash Keslar had one tackle, and also took one interception all the way back for a touchdown to bring his night to five.W-C will be hitting the road and facing Syracuse on Friday. Titans Continue To WinThayer Central made a big comeback to win on the road against E.M.F on Oct. 18 with the final score reaching 38-24. The Titans were led by the duo of Sam Souerdyke and Laken Wiedel on the offensive side. Souerdyke was able to have his sixth game surpassing 100 yards on the ground as he finished with 111 yards on 25 carries while scoring three rushing touchdowns. Wiedel was just under the 100 marker as he would take 13 carries go for 98 yards and scored one rushing TD. Wiedel completed four-of-five pass attempts for 72 yards with one passing touchdown. On the receiving end of that touchdown pass was Dylan Williams who finished with three receptions for 69 yards and Brady Degenhardt had one reception for three yards.On the Titans defensive side, Sam Souerdyke led the team with 17 tackles, Colton Kulman had 16 tackles and led the team with two tackles being for a loss, Cole Vorderstrasse ended up with 13 tackles and David Johnson had an even ten tackles.Thayer Central will be entering the class D-1 playoffs as the ninth seed hitting the road to face eighth seed Johnson-Brock on Thursday. Griffins StumblePawnee City had the offense in high gear as they won over Diller-Odell Griffins 75-7 on Oct. 18.D-O will look to bounce back and end the season on a high note as they’ll be hosting Parkview Christian on Friday. Mustangs In Battle With Silver LakeThe Meridian Mustangs fall just short in making a comeback at home as they would lose to Silver Lake on Oct. 18 with the final score reaching 20-27.Meridian will be at home hosting Dorchester on Friday. T.C. Loses To SuttonThe Tri County Trojans lose on the road to Sutton on Oct. 18 with the final score reaching 18-51. With the loss bringing the Trojans season to an end, Tri County record falls to 4-4.Sandy Creek Wins Over RaidersThe Southern Raiders could not slow down Sandy Creek on Oct. 17 with the final score reaching 8-57. With the loss Southern has their season come to an end with a record of 1-7.
