The Griffins fly away with another winThe Diller-Odell Griffins rode a wave of momentum to victory against Meridian with the final score reaching 47-26 on Friday, September 6. For D-O, offensively speaking, could seemingly do no wrong with plenty of touchdowns coming from the air and ground.Braydin Wendland was able to complete seven of 13 passes for 119 yards with three passing touchdowns and one interception. On the receiving end of those touchdown passes was Cooper Morgan, Xavier Zaboktrsky and Peyton Denner. Morgan would lead the team with three receptions and 45 yards while Zaboktrsky and Denner each had one reception. On the ground Tegahn Trosebaugh was able to lead the team with 16 carries on the ground going for 166 yards with two rushing touchdowns while Zaboktrsky carried the ball nine times for 99 yards with two rushing touchdowns as well.On the defensive side Cooper Morgan led the team in tackles with 17, Peyton Humphreys was able to grab 14 tackles as well and Jacob Novotny held on for nine tackles. Morgan, along with Braydin Wendland would each come up with one interception, while Zaboktrsky and Humphreys would each have one fumble recovery.D-O will hope to carry this momentum into the next game and look to hosting Red Cloud for Friday, September 13 with the game being at 3 p.m. Mustangs can’t keep paceThe Meridian Mustangs gave a good fighting effort, but could not contain D-O as they would lose 26-47 on Friday, September 6.The Mustangs were held scoreless in the game, all but for the third quarter with the Mustangs scoring all their points during that time. Leading the Meridian offense on the ground was J.D Adam with 28 carries going for 165 yards and scoring two rushing touchdowns. Jayton Jones was able to take his 13 caries for 127 yards for two rushing touchdowns.Meridian will look to bounce back as they host Lewiston on Friday, September 13. Jeffs Shut OutThe Fairbury Jeffs unable to find a rhythm as they would be shut out 0-14 against Fillmore Central on Friday, September 6.Despite the loss, the Jeffs were able to get 100 yards on the ground with Jaret Wood leading the way with seven carries for 60 yards, Dalton Vanlaningham had eight carries for 23 yards and Korey Nippert had five carries for 17 yards. Nippert was able to complete five passes on 10 attempts for 46 yards with one interception and Dakotah Neumiller completed two passes on his nine attempts for 52 yards.Coming down with receptions was Tanner Neumiller leading the way with three receptions for 61 yards. Brodie Prellwitz and Nic Smith each had two receptions, Prellwitz would go for 24 yards and Smith had 13 yards.Fairbury will look to regroup as they’ll be hosting Wood River on Friday, September 13. Wolverines unable to contain L-CThe Wilber-Clatonia wolverines could not slow down Lincoln Christian as they would lose 19-55 on the road Friday, September 6.On the positive side for W-C, 175 rushing yards on the ground and finding the end-zone. Cash Keslar was able to lead the team offensively as he would take his nine carries for a total of 127 yards with one rushing touchdown. Zach Marsh was able to get 37 yards on seven carries for one rushing touchdown and for his two kickoff returns, Marsh would take one back for a touchdown.Defensively, W-C was led by the duo of Zach Marsh and Ty Roesler. Marsh would lead the team with nine tackles, and Roesler was able to grab eight tackles.W-C will look to get their first win on the season back home as they’ll host Milford on Friday, September 13. Raiders run into struggles against JCCThe Southern Raiders struggled to get going as they would lose on the road 16-52 against Johnson County Central on Friday, September 6.The Raiders were held scoreless until the second quarter with Paxx Adams scoring the one touchdown on the ground. Adams with 21 carries would finish with 69 yards, and completed 10 passes on 14 attempts for 97 yards with one passing touchdown. On the receiving end of the that touchdown pass was Cooper Warford as he would finish with seven receptions for 79 yards.For the Raiders defense Alex Meece was able to lead the team with six tackles, while the duo of Kolton Ideus and Cooper Warford each had five tackles. Warford was able to secure one interception as well.The Raiders will look to bounce back at home as they’ll host Johnson-Brock on Friday, September 13. Trojans battle for the win from start to finishThe Tri County Trojans had a fight on their hands and managed to hold on to the close win against Freeman as the final score reached 32-27 on Friday, September 6.Tri County would put the pressure on Freeman early as they Trojans were able to score 16 points while holding their opponents to 12. A scoreless second quarter, a mirroring third quarter with both teams would score eight points, it wasn’t until the fourth that Tri County holding Freeman to seven points with the Trojans scoring eight points being the deciding factor in the end.With the win, Tri County will look to the road again as they’ll be facing Centennial on Friday, September 13.
