Four Suspects from ID Theft Ring Remain at Large

Four warrants remain outstanding after an investigation into the purchase and distribution of fraudulent identification documents led to felony charges and multiple arrests in Jefferson and Saline Counties on violations of Nebraska state statutes for criminal impersonation and identity theft.Eleven individuals were arrested on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, following a nearly yearlong investigation. Warrants were served in Fairbury and Crete by the Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Fraud Investigations Unit, in conjunction with the Jefferson and Saline County Sheriff Offices, Crete Police Department and the Omaha Office of Homeland Security Investigations.Four individuals with warrants were not arrested. A representative from the DMV Fraud Investigations Unit confirmed, “the warrants are still active, and we have not contacted them or found them yet.”As with those that have been arrested, each suspect still at large had at least one alias, according to court documents. The suspects still at large are:Elias Perez Vicente (aliases include Jose Luis Cardenas and Juan Carlos Morales Hernandez)Juan C. Garcia (alias Juan Hernandez Francisco Sebastion)Dunia A. Orellana Sorto (alias Jessica Hernandez)Yulie Escobar (alias Briana Nicole Montanez)The DMV told FJN that the suspects are encouraged to turn themselves in, “(W)e would appreciate them contacting our office or if anyone in the Jefferson/Saline County area knows their whereabouts to let our office know or give the information to local law enforcement.”Each suspect has been charged with identity theft, a class 2A felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison, and criminal impersonation, a class 2 misdemeanor, punishable by up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine.Those suspects that were arrested have been released on $50,000 (10 percent) bonds.The investigation is ongoing and, as a result, the warrants and arrest affidavits have been sealed.
