Four Years And Forever A Jeff

As she spoke to the onlooking crowd of students, teachers, and family saying, “I moved to Fairbury freshman year and it’s felt like home since I got here.” In the blink of an eye and now a senior Avery Baumann signed with Idaho University for swimming. It goes too fast when having fun as Avery is currently a three-time and presumably to be a four-time state qualifier. A current holder of seven records with those being the freestyle 50, 100, 200, and 500. Along with the 100 breaststroke, 100 fly, and the 200 individual medley.Much like the connections she made in Fairbury, the same feeling of being home helped make the decision to sign with Idaho as Baumann discussed the decision saying, “It wasn’t to hard for me to make the decision after visiting the campus, meeting the coaches and soon-to-be teammates. Much like Fairbury when I first got here, there was an immediate sense of being home and I couldn’t imagine going anywhere else. I’m excited for the next chapter to start as soon as it does, but I’m certainly going to enjoy my last year and plan on working as hard as I can to make it four years in a row at state.”Time is a subject that many swimmers are well versed in. After all this time, it’s not the races, but the rides to them that Baumann will miss as she spoke on her time on Fairbury saying, “If there’s anything I’m going to miss the most has to be the rides to meets. Some of the best memories I have been the rides with teammates and something I’ll make sure to appreciate this last go around.”
