Friesen Signs For Track

A multi-faceted athlete, excelling in several sports, Micah Friesen will be concentrating on track as she signed with College of St. Mary’s in Omaha on March 26.
Next year Friesen will be running track, the 400 and 800 (primarily the 800) as well as cross country for the Flames.
Friesen is a three-time state qualifier in track and hopes to make a fourth appearance this May in Omaha for the Lady Jeffs.
Her head track coach, Matt Edson, said, “Micah has been very successful in everything she has done at FHS. She’s had a fantastic career and it will be great to see her run track for St. Mary’s. Very proud of Micah.”
While at St. Mary’s, Friesen hopes to continue a trend. The team has had a 4x800m relay team place nationally this year and she hopes to earn a spot on that team.
Friesen had her decision down to Concordia and St. Mary’s but after spending time with the coaches at St. Mary’s, she knew where she wanted to be in college.
“I really enjoyed my time with the coaches,” Friesen said.
In relation to coaches, she said her coaches at FHS prepared her to get to this moment.
“We have amazing coaches here and our mid-distance group has been amazing the last four years in going to state,” Friesen said, giving a big shout out to Coach Edson and Coach Engel.
Friesen will be pursuing a Bachelor’s of Science in nursing.
