Gage County Meetings

By Don Schuller Gage County Committee meeting 1/9/23Road and bridge:The Committee discussed overlays on asphalt roads and hard surface conversions from gravel. It is possible that a bond issue will be needed depending on how much bridge replacement or repairs will be required on the following roads:58th Rd between Highway 136 and Odell was overlaid in 1999. This is the highest priority to overlay.Overlays were last completed in 2013 for the Adams/Filley, 134th Rd, and the Wymore/Liberty, East Plum Rd. A majority of supervisors felt the Adams/Filley Rd should be the next priority following the Odell Rd.Highway Superintendent Mark Kuhnke stated at the last meeting that the shouldering on East Plum is scheduled for late this summer. In previous meetings I questioned why it has taken 10 years. Mr. Kuhnke is not responsible for the project taking this long. It was unanimously approved that the 2023 officers of both the Board of Equalization and the Board of Supervisors be the same individuals. Chairman Erich Tiemann and Vice Chair Emily Haxby were nominated and re-elected unanimously to their offices.
