Georgia Lee (Cox) Austen age 89 years, 11 months, and 23 days of Plattsmouth, NE formerly of Beatrice, NE passed away on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 at 8:53 P.M. at The Nebraska Masonic Home in Plattsmouth. She was born on June 18, 1935, to Beryl E. Cox and Martha Jane (Uren) Cox in Fairbury, NE. While she was growing up her dad worked for the Rock Island Railroad. Georgia’s family lived in Fairbury and Gilead, NE and she graduated from Fairbury High School with the class of 1953. She met the love of her life, Doyle Eugene Austen and they later married on November 7, 1954 in Fairbury, NE, Georgia and Doyle made their home in Manhattan, KS, Kansas City, MO, Utica, NY, and they returned to Fairbury in 1965. Georgia attended and graduated from Southeast Community College in Fairbury as a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1973. Georgia was known as a Hero in Fairbury because she once saved a man from a burning house. Nursing was Georgia’s passion and her compassion to others always showed. She had worked for Dr. Botz, Fairbury Community Hospital, Good Samritian Nursing Home, and the Beatrice Manor. In 1982 Georgia and Doyle moved to Beatrice, NE. She medically retired in the 1992 and in 2012 Georgia moved to The Nebraska Masonic Home. Georgia was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, Order of the Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile, American Legion Auxiliary Post #27, Elks Club, United Methodist Church in Fairbury, and Church of the Holy Spirit. She is survived by her two daughters: Michelle Loeffelholtz and her husband Tim of Kenesaw, NE and Robin Denniston and her husband Randy of Nebraska City, NE: four grandchildren: Charles Austen and his wife Maria, Sandra Fletcher, JoanaLee Shuck and her husband Jodi, and Kendra Loeffelholz; eight grandchildren: Dennis Shuck, Makayla Fletcher, Jonathan Fletcher, Damien Austen, Royce Austen, Summer Hagemeister, Ashtion Kissee, and Addison Kissee; two great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents: Beryl and Martha Cox, her son: Dennis Austen, her husband: Doyle Austen, and her granddaughter: Krystal Loeffelholz. Visitations will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. with a Rosary at 7:00 P.M., on Monday, June 16, 2025 at the Church of the Holy Spirit in Plattsmouth. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 A.M., on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at the Church of the Holy Spirit with Father Sean Timmerman officiating. A Graveside Service will be at 11:00 A.M., on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at Fairbury Cemetery in Fairbury. The Pallbearers will be Dr. Maxwell Larweh, Jonathan Fletcher, Jodi Shuck, Randy Shippee, and Ken Hammond. The Honorary Pallbearers will be Kendra Loeffelholz, Tim Loeffelholz, Randy Denniston, JoanaLee Shuck, Sandra Fletcher, and Charles Austen.
