Griffins Have Tough Match-Up Against Hanover

In a battle of the borders, Diller-Odell Lady Griffins were unable to keep Hanover off the boards as they fell to the Wildcats 60-35 Monday night, December 20.Falling to a record of 5-2 for Diller-Odell, the biggest difference in the game was rebounds.The Wildcats owned the glass, collecting 50 total rebounds compared to the Griffins 24 total rebounds, 30 of the Hanover rebounds were on the offensive end, which allowed them to take 19 more shots than the Griffins during the contest.Also, the Wildcats attempted 27 total free-throws during the game (making 20 of them). Myleigh Weers came away with 22 points to lead the Griffins in scoring, shooting 8-of-10 from the charity stripe, finding four rebounds, one assist, three blocks and three steals. Lilly Swanson contributed nine points, going 3-for-4 at the line, and leading the team with seven rebounds along with two assists in the game.Diller-Odell Griffins boys basketball ran into some offensive troubles as they fell to the Hanover Wildcats 66-46 on December 20.Though the Griffins had shown a good defensive effort, they were met with an offense that was raring and ready to go from the start.Facing a 1-2-2 half-court press proved to be a challenge as the Griffins would end up giving 15 turnovers, and shooting under 40 percent from the field.Despite the rough offensive night, senior Nate Lyons was able to get into the double digits for the offense with an effort that led the Griffins with 23 points on nine of nineteen shooting while grabbing five rebounds, two steals, one block, and one assist while junior Kaden Sutton had nine points, getting six rebounds, two assists and one steal.Cooper Ebeling was able to contribute seven points despite a rough night of shooting, but was able to lead the team with six assists and four steals.
