Harvey L. Weideman

Harvey L. Weideman, 90, of Deshler passed away on March 21, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on December 26, 1935, at rural Ellis to Benjamin and Elizabeth (Carpenter) Weideman. Harvey was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Beatrice. He graduated from Beatrice High School in 1953 and went on to attend many classes on mechanics and electronics. Harvey married Marlene R. Gibson on June 2, 1956, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Beatrice. This union was blessed with three children, Randy Robin and Chrystal. Harvey worked at Lentz Motors in Beatrice as a mechanic and from there went to work for Consumers Public Power. In 1972, he moved to Lincoln and worked as a lineman and later as a Lead Substation Technician for the Nebraska Public Power District. He took great pride in his work at Cooper Nuclear Station and often shared stories from his time there. After 30 years of service, he retired in 1994. In addition to his primary career, Harvey owned and operated Harlee Electronics in Deshler. He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church where he was active in the church choir, sound and served as an usher. Harvey was also involved in Boy Scouts, the CB Radio Club, the Izaak Walton League (“Ikes”), the American Legion Club, Ellis Cemetery Association, and the Country Knights Band. Harvey spent most of his retirement volunteering his time, skills and knowledge. From the Thayer County fair to the fishing contest at Gabby’s pond, Harvey was there. He also enjoyed camping, boating, fishing, and hunting. Harvey will be remembered for his love and patience, and for his devotion to God and his family.

Survivors include his son, Randy (Linda)Weideman of Bennett;  daughters, Robin Sedlachek of Deshler, Chrystal (Travis) Miller of Deshler;  grandchildren, Davis (Britny) Weideman, Kassondra (Trent) Shuck, Bryce Sedlachek, Steavan Sedlachek, Raegan (Sean) Bartholomew, Gracie Miller; great-grandchildren Aaron, Harper, Lennon, Quinne, Grayson, Kalen, Rowan, Reese, Rhen, Rigley; brother-in-law, Roger (Jan) Gibson; sister-in-law, Judy Gibson; nieces and nephews and inherited family and friends along the way. He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Elizabeth “Lizzy” Weideman; wife, Marlene R. Weideman; granddaughter, Jaide Miller; sister, Opal Weideman; parents-in-law, Clarence and Bertha B. “Bonnie” Walker Gibson; brother-in-law, Gary Gibson.

            Funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at the St. Peter Lutheran Church of Deshler with Pastor Brian Francik officiating. Visitation with the family greeting relatives and friends will be on Tuesday from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M at Fox Funeral Home, Beatrice. Visitation will also be at the church one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Burial will take place at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday at the Ellis Cemetery of Ellis, NE.
