Heartland Bank To Close North Branch Feb. 18

Heartland Bank has announced its intention to close one of three locations in Fairbury. The North Branch, located at 1411 K Street, will be shuttered and consolidated into the other two branches, located at 525 F Street and the main branch at 423 5th Street, both in downtown Fairbury.In a letter to Heartland Bank customers, Market President Barry Schweer wrote, “After our consolidation, you can still expect the same familiar staff and services that you have become accustomed to. Our amazing Customer Service team will be available at both the Main Bank and Drive-In locations, as well as our Universal Bankers and Relationship Managers will continue to offer banking services at our Main Bank location.”FJN spoke to Schweer Monday morning, January 24. Schweer said, “No Heartland associates will lose their jobs because of the consolidations. So they’ll just be incorporated into the two branches.”Schweer explained the reasoning behind this decision, “Three locations within the Fairbury marketplace just create a lot of inefficiencies within the bank. In general, nowadays, banking is more efficient as far as with online banking and mobile apps, mobile deposits, bill pay, and so forth.”Heartland has also upgraded two ATMs (Automated Teller Machines) in the last month, one within Ray’s Apple Market at 1415 K Street and the other at the Drive-In location at 525 F Street.The building has been sold. Schweer did not release the name of the purchaser but confirmed, “The building has been sold to a local buyer.”
