James Novak

February 7, 1935 – October 18, 2023 James Charles Novak, 88, Chandler, Arizona (formerly of Lincoln, Nebraska) passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 18, 2023. James (Jim) was born on February 7, 1935, to Wenceslaus Novak and wife Emma, nee Lorenz in Fillmore County, NE. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife of 55 years, Norma (2017); sisters, Adelaide Gudlin, Bette Stepanchuk, and Rosalie Hamm; brother, Henry Novak. Jim instilled in his children a sense of ethics, hard work, kindness, and the willingness to lend a hand to anyone in need. Jim retired in 2001 after 15+ years working for Floors Incorporated in Lincoln as the manager of the warehouse. While in Lincoln, the family were active members of St. Patrick’s catholic Church. It was in 2001 that Jim and Norma moved to Chandler to enjoy the year-round sunshine. Jim was married to Norma for 55 plus years (January 27, 1962, in Lincoln.) Jim will be forever remembered by his daughter, Shelly Novak of Chandler, Arizona; his son, Tony Novak of Lincon; his sister, Mary Hummel (Novak) of Fairbury; his brother, Fred Novak of Lincoln; his brother Frank Novak of Falls City; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews; the rest of his family and many dear friends. Memorial services are planned at 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 17, 2024 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 6111 Morrill Ave., Lincoln. A reception will directly follow mass in the church social hall. After the reception, there will be an inurnment for family (and others that would like to attend) at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that those who wish to honor Jim’s memory, please consider a donation to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
