Jean Schultz

Jean Schultz (beloved wife, daughter, Mom, sister, aunt, and grandmother, was born in Fairbury, June 14, 1942. She passed away April 2, 2024.Jean grew up on the family farm North of Fairbury. She attended the Bower school and later graduated from Fairbury High School in 1960. She first met her future husband, Ed, in High School, and they later married in 1968.Jean was a homemaker most of the years following the birth of her sons, while moving through various locations throughout the country supporting her U.S. Navy husband. After settling in Nelson, NE, she worked part-time at the Nelson nursing home. Jean and Ed retired in Bellevue, NE, before residing at the Heritage Care Center in Fairbury.She enjoyed being a hairdresser on the side, cutting hair and giving perms to many friends and family members. She also enjoyed being with extended family, sewing, collecting milk glass, dancing with Ed (they were quite good and she loved Boot Scootin’ Boogie), was in league bowling for a number of years, and enjoyed many games with family (cards, boardgames, Yahtzee, Pitch, and Cribbage to name a few).More than anything, Jean loved being a Mom, first, to her boys. While her sons attended high school, she was called Mom by many students. She enjoyed attending the majority of her son’s sporting and school events. In addition, she volunteered her time, and was requested to be a chaperone for band trips, field trips, school dances, etc. She enjoyed cooking for pot-luck dinners and being the host for spaghetti nights for the football team.Jean is survived by her sons Corey (Kate) of Hebron, NE, and Jeff of Roanoke, VA, her grandchildren Jared of Lincoln, Jayden and Natalie of Roanoke, VA, her brother Robert (Norma) of Lincoln, and many nieces and nephews.She is preceded in death by her husband, Eldon (Ed), mother, Ethel Johnson, father, Earle Johnson, and sister Gayle (Bob) Estergard.Jean and Ed are, once again, holding hands.Services will be Friday, April 12, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Fairbury. Memorials will go to the Family's Choice. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. b
