Jefferson County Employee and Wife Arrested for Sexual Assault of a Child

Two people have been arrested by the Nebraska State Patrol following an investigation into reported sexual assault of a child. One of the suspects is an employee of Jefferson County. The investigation began in April, when the State Patrol received a report of the alleged sexual assault. On Thursday, May 2, 2024, investigators arrested Brandon Myers, age 40, of Fairbury, for third degree assault, third degree sexual assault of a child and child abuse. As Myers is an employee of the Jefferson County Jail, he was lodged in the Thayer County Jail. After further investigation, Brandon Myers’ spouse, Bobbi Myers, age 44, of Fairbury, was arrested on Monday, May 7, for child abuse and failure to report child abuse.Bobbi Myers was lodged in Jefferson County Jail. Brandon Myers appeared in Jefferson County Court on Wednesday, May 8, via webcam from the Thayer County Jail. Linda Bauer was the presiding judge. The defendant requested court-appointed counsel and attorney Benjamin Murray was assigned to represent him. Myers also requested a bond review. Bond was set at $500,000 (10 percent), which he indicated he was unable to pay and asked for a bond reduction. There were no charges yet on file. County Attorney Joseph Casson indicated the matter was under review to determine if the Attorney General will take over the case.Judge Bauer agreed to lower the bond to $150,000, which would require the defendant to pay $15,000. The bond prohibits contact with any minor under the age of 16. What charges are ultimately filed could impact any future bond. Brandon Myers is scheduled to be arraigned May 29, 2024. The investigation remains ongoing.
