Jeffs Comeback To Defeat Beatrice In Dramatic Fashion

Fairbury’s baseball team were the Comeback Kids on March 31 with a thrilling come-from-behind win against Beatrice.
The Jeffs won 7-6.
Down 1-0 after one inning the Jeffs were then down 2-1 going into the fourth inning. A 2-0 inning put FHS up 3-2 against the Orangemen. In the next inning, Beatrice scored four runs, going up 6-3. Undaunted, the Jeffs scored four runs in the sixth inning and then held Beatrice scoreless in the seventh to win the contest.
FHS had a 9-4 hit advantage over Beatrice.
Garrett Roelfs had two hits, two RBI with a double to lead FHS. Jamison Runge had one hit, one RBI as did Dom Joe. Dakotah Neumiller had a double for Fairbury as did Jacob Nippert. Miles Tatro had one hit, one RBI and CJ Goeking had one hit for FHS. Lucas Livingston added an RBI to his totals for the season while Asher Myers had a hit and Barron Schoenrock had one RBI.
Showing some dominance on the mound was Dom Joe with eight strikeouts for Fairbury. Goeking added one K for FHS. Beatrice had five strikeouts as a team.
On April 2, the Jeffs hosted Holdrege and it was a close and tight contest until the final frame.
Holdrege was up 2-1 after one inning and the Jeffs hung tough down 3-2 after two innings and 4-2 going into the fifth. At that point the FHS offense came alive, scoring three runs to tie the game at 5-all.
However, in the seventh inning, Holdrege scored four runs to edge the Jeffs.
Dom Joe had a huge game for FHS with two hits, two RBI. Dakotah Neumiller had one hit and one RBI. Jamison Runge and CJ Goeking each had a hit as did Barron Schoenrock.
Jacob Nippert had one RBI for the Jeffs. Goeking and Neumiller each had one stolen base in the contest.
The duo of Miles Tatro and CJ Goeking pitched for the Jeffs with each gaining five strikeouts.
