Jeffs Finish In Top Five At York

On Saturday, April 26, the FHS Jeffs track squads went to the Yowell Classic in York. For the girls, FHS was fifth (38 points) and the boys finished third (79 points). Picking up points for the boys, Nic Smith was sixth in the 100m dash (:11.62) and was sixth in the 200 meters (:24.76). Gavin Gerths was second (:15.99) and Jerik Mans third (:16.77) in the 110m hurdles.Gerths finished second in the 300m hurdles (:42.55) and Korey Nippert (:44.34) was third.Nabbing fourth place (:47.28) in the 4x100m relay was Tannor Neumiller, Dalton Vanlaningham, Konrad Kuzelka and Mans). Mans, Nippert, Smith and Johnson were third in the 4x400m relay (3:49.61).Taking third in the 4x800m relay was Jayden James, Nippert, Westen Graham and Johnson (9:44.27).As he has done all year, Vanlaningham was again one of the top pole vaulters in the field, winning in dominating fashion with a leap of 13’6”, beating Edison Knott of Seward (12’6”). Tannor Neumiller was third in the long jump (19’3.5”). Nic Smith won the long jump by over two feet (41’1.5”) and Drew Watson was sixth (35’5.5”). Rene Monterroso was fifth in the discus for the Jeffs (135’1”) and was fourth in the shot put (46’.25”). In the throwers relay, FHS was third (:56.99) with team members being Issiah Firmanik, Finn Wolff, Parker Jacobi and Christian Stotler. FHS Girls: In the 800m Micah Friesen continued to win, placing first with a time of 2:26.86 and in the 400m dash, Ariel Floyd was sixth (1:13.99). Jordin Gill was fifth in the 800m (2:41.47).Alecia Bedlan was sixth in the 100m hurdles (:19.32) while the 4x100m relay team was fourth (Rylie Kapke, Bedlan, Sophia Meints, Isabella Bennett) (:58.10). The 4x400m relay team (Jaycee Prellwitz, Regan Kapke, Gill, Sam Starr) were fourth (4:33.15). Winning the 4x800m relay was Starr, Gill, Prellwitz and Friesen (10:24.89).In the field events, Evelyn Timmons was fifth in the high jump (4’9”) and Regan Kapke was fourth in the triple jump (31’2”).
