Jeffs Have Active Bats, Tough Defense, Hot Pitching In 8-0 Win

A sigh of relief as Jeffs run wild on the base pads for first win of the season.On Thursday, April 14 the Fairbury Jeffs baseball put on a hitting spree and torched the base pads getting the 8-0 victory against Twin Rivers.In a game where Fairbury would strike first on the scoreboard with Blake Starr being brought in by a sacrifice fly by Brendon Runge in the first inning. The running from that inning was a precursor for the bottom of third inning where the Jeffs brought across seven runs.After a Blake Starr pop out to short stop, the Jeffs went on a run and didn’t look back. Ethan Smith would single on a grounder to right field, and the next pitch Smith would be stealing second base. Brendon Runge would bring in his teammate with a single to right field of his own and advanced to second to bring in Smith who would finish the game with two steals to lead his team.Auggie Judd would then bring in Runge after a single off a grounder to the left field.Even when pushing the 3-0 lead more chaos would ensue filled with the Jeffs capitalizing on errors to run the base pads as Aldo Ramos and Blayne Schelbitzki were both able to come across. While Schelbitzki was scoring on that error ball, Jakolbie Atkins advanced to third on a nice hustle effort and slide as he would later be brought in by Landon Trimm hitting a grounder to center field to push a 6-0 lead.Just when it had seemingly settled, Jacob Martin cracks a shot to the center field and turned on the wheels to earn himself a triple bringing in Trimm. Martin would score on a wild pitch to reach 8-0.Racking up a total of 11 hits on the night with Jacob Martin, Jacolbie Atkins, Blayne Schelbitizki, and Auggie Judd collected multiple hits while Brendon Runge led the team with two RBI.Blake Starr took the mound and went seven innings, allowing zero runs on four hits, striking out five and walking one to complete a great game overall for the Jeffs first win.
