Jeffs Have Solid Start To Season

The Fairbury Jeffs baseball team kicked off the 2026 season against Lincoln Lutheran on March 19 at home and despite a competitive start, the Lutheran squad was able to get a 1303 win.Dakota Zimmerman, Dakotah Neumiller and Jacob Nippert were able to get hits for Fairbury. Neumiller had a double in the contest. CJ Goeking had a stolen base on the day.Dom Joe had six strikeouts on the mound for the Jeffs.The Jeffs came roaring back over the weekend with a pair of wins. First, the Jeffs downed Falls City 13-3. FHS came out hot with three runs in the first inning and then tacked on two more in the second inning to go up 5-0 going into the third inning. Falls City would be down 3-8 in the fourth inning and the Jeffs really opened up the offense, adding three runs in the fifth an two in the sixth. FHS had an 11-4 hits advantage over Falls City in the contest. Jacob Nippert had the hot bat for FHS with three hits and four RBI. Garrett Roelfs also had the hot bat with three hits and one RBI. Dom Joe had two hits and two RBI for the Jeffs. Also picking up hits were CJ Goeking, Neumiller (2 RBI) and Lucas Livingston (1 RBI). Koby Kroll had one RBI.Knocking in doubles were Goeking, Neumiller, Nippert and Livingston.Miles Tatro commanded the mound with four strikeouts for FHS.It was a bit of a rinse and repeat for the Jeffs on Saturday when they faced Aubrun, winning 13-3.The action was a bit slow with the Jeffs down 1-0 going into the third inning, that is when FHS scored four runs to take the lead. A 6-2 fifth inning and a 3-0 sixth put the game away in favor of Fairbury.Joe, Roelfs and Neumiller each had two hits and three RBI for FHS. Also netting hits were Goeking, Nippert and Barron Schoenrock.Joe had a triple in the game while doubles were provided by Schoenrock, Roelfs and Nippert.On the mound, Joe had a dominating performance with 11 strikeouts.
