Jeffs Host Annual Invite

It was a great day to be a Jeff last Tuesday (March 25). The Lady Jeffs and Jeffs would win the 2025 Thayer Central Coaches Legacy meet. The girls won with a team score of 135 with Thayer Central coming in second with 103 points. The boys won with 135 team points while Thayer Central was a close second with 124 points.
For the girls, the high jumpers for Fairbury held three of the top six slots. Sophomore Evelyn Timmons won with a leap of 4’10” while Bridget Heidemann was second (4’6”) and Zoey Frerichs was sixth (4’2”).
The long jumpers for girls had three in the top 10. Finishing fifth in the long jump was Timmons (14’10”) and Regan Kapke was seventh (124’2”) and Isabella Bennett was ninth (14’).
Top pole vaulter for the girls was Izzy Ohlde, finishing third (8’).
The one-two punch of Kapke and Alecia Bedlan were second and third, respectively, in the triple jump (32’ 6” Kapke) and (31’ 5” Bedlan). Bedlan was fourth in the 100 meter hurdles (:18.99).
Autumn L’Ecuyer was second in the discus (99’4”) for FHS and won the shot put in strong fashion with a throw of 41’ 6”, ahead of Bailey Theis of Dorchester (38’ 5”).
Sam Starr, Izzy Ohlde, Jaycee Prellwitz and Jordin Gill easily won the 4×800 relay (11:02.52), over Fillmore Central at second (11:41.71).
The 4×100 team was third (:56.41), consisting of Regan Kapke, Rylie Kapke, Bennett and Timmons. The Lady Jeff 4×400 meter relay team clipped Thayer Central for first (4:27.2). The team consisted of Friesen, Regan Kapke, Gill and Sam Starr.
Sam Starr and Micah Friesen dominated the 400 and 800 meter runs. Friesen won the 400 meters (1:02.26) while Starr was second (1:03.46) and Starr won the 800 meters (2:31.46) and Friesen was second (2:33.42). Gill finished third in the 800 meters (2:43.08).
At the 3200 meter race, Madison Haddan was third for the Lady Jeffs (16:47.1).
For the boys, Nic Smith took home first in the triple jump (40’ 8.75”) while Drew Watson was fourth (35’ 10.5”).
Drew Watson was third in the high jump (4’8”) and Jerik Mans and Tannor Neumiller finished second and third (18’10”, Mans, 17’ 10.75” Neumiller) in the long jump.
Dalton Vanlaningham won the pole vault (12’) while Hayden Bear was third (10’).
Rene Monterroso continues to make strides in the shot put and discus. Monterosso was second in discus (129’ 11”) and third in the shot put (41’.5”) just behind teammate Christian Suchil, who finished second (43’ 9”).
Gavin Gerths placed second in the 110 meter hurdles (:17.21) while Jerik Johnson was second in the 1600 meters (4:58.04).
Nic Smith, Tannor Neumiller, Vanlaningham and Konrad Kuzelka finished second in the 4×11 meter relay (:47.93) just shy of Beatrice’s time of :47.51.
Jerik Johnson was third (:58.27), Aiden Novotny fourth (:58.86) and Korey Nippert fifth (1:00.75) in the 400 meter dash. Johnson was second in the 800 meters (2:16.39) while Smith was third in the 200 meter dash (:24.6).
On Saturday the Jeffs hosted the annual Fairbury Invite. The girls finished fourth and the boys finished sixth.
For the girls, Micah Friesen was third in the 400 meters (1:02.74) and Sam Starr was sixth (1:04.12). Starr was second in the 800 meters (2:31.69). The girls 4×800 meter relay team was second (10:40.13). Micah Friesen, Jaycee Prellwitz, Jordin Gill and Sam Starr made up the team.
Evelyn Timmons was third in the high jump (4’10”).
Autumn L’Ecuyer won the discus with a throw of 117’ 9” and the shot put at 40’ 9”.
For the boys, Gavin Gerths won the 110 meter hurdles (:16.66) while Jerik Mans was fourth (:17.63). Gerths was fifth in the 300 meter hurdles (:44.45). Nic Smith won the triple jump (41’ 1”).
Dalton Vanlaningham was second in the pole vault (13’) and Rene Monteroso was fifth in the discus (140’ 5”).
