Jeffs On Hot Streak

The Fairbury Lady Jeffs pushed their win-streak to four games with three wins on the road to start the second week of September. The lady Jeffs were able to go 2-0 at Beaver Crossing in triangular action. In the first game against North Bend Central, Fairbury would have a hit parade as the team would rack up a lucky number of 13 hits on the way to a 11-3 victory.Addison Marschman led the way for the offensive attack going perfect at the plate three for three, with one being a double along with three RBI to lead the team in that as well.The trio of Mailee Garner, Izzy Ohlde, and Logan Wentz would each have two hits. Jordin Gill, Rylee Gill, Regan Kapke, Abby Hynek each came up with one hit as well. Ohlde, Kapke and Wentz each were able to find enough green for a double. Hynek, Jordin Gill, and Wentz each had two RBI while Garner would have one RBI. Sam Schmidt took the win on the mound going five innings allowing six hits, three runs(three earned) with two strikeouts.In the game against Centennial, Fairbury would score first with one run in bottom of the 2nd, two in the third inning, but after falling behind with a score 3-5. The lady Jeffs would answer with five runs coming across in the bottom of the fifth and held their opponents to a pair of runs in the top of sixth as they secured a hard fought 8-7 victory. Jordin Gill led the team going two for two at the plate with one being a double. Rylee Gill, Regan Kapke, Izzy Ohlde, Abby Hynek and Sam Schmidt each contributed one hit. Logan Wentz would also contribute one hit, that one hit though, would be a home-run shot over centerfield. Schmidt, and Hynek would tie in leading the team with two RBI, Ohlde and Mailee Garner would also have one RBI in that game. Kate Hynek would get the win on the mound going four innings, allowing five hits, five runs(three earned) with one walk and six strikeouts.However the lady Jeffs win-streak would come to a close at home as they would host Milford on Thursday, September 12th with the final score reaching 2-12. Mustering up only three hits came from Regan Kapke, Izzy Ohlde and Mailee Garner. Taking the loss on the mound was Ohlde going three innings, allowing five hits, five runs(four earned) with two walks and four strikeouts.Fairbury looks to get back on track with winning ways as they head to the Malcolm invite on Saturday, September 14th. Wolverines Fall To Centura, FreemanThe Wilber-Clatonia Lady Wolverines softball went 0-2 at the Freeman triangular on Tuesday, September 10th. W-C had made a solid effort late, but they would fall to Centura with the final score reaching 6-12. The next game, another battle with W-C giving another great last effort, but again would fall just short as they would lose to Centennial with the final score reaching 4-5.W-C will look to hit the road on the weekend as they head to the Falls City invite on Saturday, September 14th. Thunder Can’t Catch SyracuseThe Southern-Diller-Odell Thunder can’t keep pace with Syracuse as they lose on the road Monday, September 9th with a final score of 3-6. Leading the way for the offensive side with some notable efforts coming from Mya Frase. Frase would be able to go two for four at the plate as she scored one run, brought in two RBI to lead the team as well. Reece Barnard, Maddie Parde, Madie Rosebaugh, Reegan Lauby and Scarlett Steensnes would each contribute one hit as it would bring the team total to six. S.D.O was looking to rebound as they would hit the road on Thursday, September 12th facing Auburn.S.D.O Thunder would give a solid effort but can’t contain Auburn as the final score reaches 2-12. Notable efforts came from Maddie Rosebaugh going two for two at the plate, Azlynn Stevens with her one hit would be a triple as she brought in two RBI to lead the team and Mya Frase came up with one hit as well. Azlynn Stevens took the loss giving up five hits with seven runs(two earned) with one walk. S.D.O will look to Auburn invite on Saturday, September 14th.
