Jeffs Preparing For State Track

Traveling to Raymond Central on May 8, the Fairbury Jeffs track squads had strong showings for both the girls and boys. The girls finished second with 67 team points. Plattsmouth won with 69 points. The boys finished fourth with 71 team points while Milford won with 112.5 team points.Continuing her winning ways in distance races, Micah Friesen won the 400m race (1:02.74) and the 800 meters (2:27.08) while teammate Sam Starr was third (2:31.14). Zoey Frerichs of FHS was third in the 3200m (15:07.2) and Madison Haddan finished sixth for FHS (15:54.73). Placing third in the 4x400m relay for FHS was Starr, Taryn Hinman, Regan Kapke and Jaycee Prellwitz (4:26.76).The 4x800m relay team for the Lady Jeffs won (10:29.34) over Plattsmouth (11:10.72). Lady Jeff relay members were Starr, Prellwitz, Friesen and Jordin Gill.Evelyn Timmons was fourth in the high jump (4’11”) and Autumn L’Ecuyer was fourth in the discus (100’3”). L’Ecuyer won the shot put (40’4”) over Malia Howard of Ashland-Greenwood (36’1”).For the FHS boys, Nic Smith was second in the 400m dash (:53.42) and Jerik Johnson was fourth in the 1600m (5:05.79).Gavin Gerths placed third in the 110m hurdles (:15.75) and Jerik Mans was close behind in fourth (:16.18). Gerths was fourth in the 300m hurdles (:44.35) while Korey Nippert was sixth (:44.84).The team of Mans, Smith, Nippert and Johnson were third in the 4x400m relay (3:43.39). Dalton Vanlaningham finished second in the pole vault (13’6”) while Mans was third in the long jump (19’’11.75”).Nic Smith won the triple jump (42’4”) over Montae Henry of Conestoga (42’).FHS senior Rene Monterroso was second in the discus (143’2”) while Christian Suchil was fourth (137’). Monterroso was fifth in the shot put (46’5”).
