Jeffs Seeing Red Facing Orange

The Fairbury Lady Jeffs had hosted the Beatrice Lady Orangemen Tuesday, January 4. Beatrice came in with an offense that averaged 35.5 points a game versus the Lady Jeffs averaging 33 points a game.Despite some solid passing, a good showing of defense, and being only down by three at the half. The Lady Jeffs were unable to contain the second half three-point barrage from Beatrice losing 36-48.From the start of the game the full-court press was showing some promise for Fairbury. However early foul trouble led to pulling off from the press into a zone five minutes into the first quarter which also ended with Jami Mans hitting a layup as the clock expired to give them the 11-10 lead heading into the second.However foul trouble and shots not falling plagued the Lady Jeffs only scoring four in the second quarter falling behind 15-18 at half. The second half would have Beatrice dropping 17 points to Fairbury’s seven, and in the fourth quarter Fairbury would outscore Beatrice 14-13 showing a fighting effort throughout the entirety of the game.The Lady Jeffs were led by Senior Karly McCord getting 17 points to lead the team for scoring on the night as the only Jeff to make into the double digits. McCord also grabbed six rebounds along with one assist, and one steal. Madison Ohlde had a solid night getting eight points on three of five shooting from the field, and two for three at the free throw line and came down with six rebounds on the night as well.With the loss Fairbury moves to a 4-6 record and hosted Tri County Thursday, January 6.
