Judge Modifies Bond Conditions For Sexual Assault Suspect

DHHS Will Decide If Suspect May Have Contact With Her Own Children A Fairbury woman facing multiple felony charges involving the sexual abuse and exploitation of children has asked the court to modify the terms of her bond to allow contact with her own children. The judge opted to leave the decision up to the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).Jaimee D. Kleinbohl, age 31, appeared in Jefferson County Court Wednesday afternoon, February 18, 2026, via webcam from the Jefferson County Jail. Linda Bauer was the presiding judge.Kleinbohl and her co-defendant, Nicholas Kent Roehl, age 46, are each charged with four counts: First degree sexual assault of a child, a class 1B felony punishable by 20 years to life in prison; the purchase or distribution of child sexual abuse material (CSAM), a class 3 felony punishable by four years in prison, two years of post-release supervision and a $25,000 fine; the production of CSAM, a class 1D felony punishable by three to 50 years in prison; and possession of CSAM, a class 2A felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison. According to the Affidavit for Arrest Warrant, an investigation into the allegations led to a search of electronic devices owned by the defendants, which investigators “located approximately 900 files of sexually explicit conduct which has a child as one of its participants or portrayed observers within the data.” Each defendant is being held on a $1 million bond (10 percent) with the condition that they have no contact with any minor under 16 years of age.Kleinbohl asked through her attorney, Benjamin Murray, that conditions of the bond be amended to allow for supervised visits with her own children, at the discretion of DHHS. The Jefferson County Attorney indicated he had no objection and Judge Bauer granted the motion.Kleinbohl waived her right to a preliminary hearing and the case was bound over to district court. Meanwhile, Kleinbohl’s co-defendant now has a new attorney.Roehl was originally represented by attorney Gregory Kratz. However, Kratz filed a motion to withdraw on February 6, 2026. The defendant is now represented by attorney Todd W. Lancaster, chief counsel for the Nebraska Commissioner of Public Advocacy (NCAP).NCAP was created in 1995 to provide legal representation for indigent defendants in complex or high-profile cases.
