Lady Griffins Heading To State

Diller-Odell Lady Griffins handily win the D2-7 District Final Friday, February 25 against Wauneta-Palisade by a score of 65-43 to advance to the state basketball tournament kicking off March 7. Diller-Odell had a great offensive night with three Lady Griffins scoring in the double digits, and dominating presence on the glass getting 44 rebounds as a team. Diller-Odell was led by Myleigh Weers scoring a team leading 29 points on 10-of-18 shooting, going 7-for-8 at the line, getting six rebounds and two assists. Lilly Swanson had a lucky night getting 13 points, shooting 7-for-7 at the free-throw line, grabbed a team leading, and season high 13 rebounds while getting two assists as well. Mallory Denner managed to score 11 points, came down with three rebounds, two assists, and two steals. For Mad Meyerle and Baileigh Vilda, their impact came not from the scoring but from the effort on the rebounds as Meyerle would get 10 rebounds and Vilda came away with 11 rebounds to help elevate Diller-Odell to victory and keep the season going. Diller-Odell will be entering the State tournament with a 16-7 record. Diller-Odell Griffin boys squad was unable to contain Sacred Heart offense losing 34-70 on Thursday, February 24 in the sub-district final. The top performances from the Griffins came from the efforts of Kaden Sutton leading the team with nine points, and grabbed two rebounds and Cooper Morgan scored five points and grabbed a team leading six rebounds for the Griffins.Diller-Odell ends the season with a 10-14 record.
