Landsharks Rally To Pick Up Huge Win Over Auburn

Fairbury Landsharks lose three straight, but bounce back with strong win as the bats come alive against Auburn ending with a final score 14-2.After losing to Crete on Monday 2-5, and then Chick-Fil-A on Wednesday with that game going 6-12, the Landsharks were looking to get the momentum on their side early and did so by putting up nine runs in the first inning.Brendon Runge had set the bats off by hitting a solo home run. A sacrifice fly by Jayden Schmidt brought across the second, Corbin Slater was able to get a single bringing in the third, Austin Novotny would score the fourth on an error, Blayne Schelbitzki would have a sacrifice as well bringing across fifth run, and as if those five runs couldn’t happen fast enough. Auggie Judd would hit a home run over left field getting two RBI to extend it to the 7-0 and finally off a double by Brody Kroll bringing across two RBI would bring it nine runs coming across. The final nail in the coffin for the last run came in the third as Novotny and Runge would lead the team with multiple hits, and Runge would lead the team with RBI getting three from the game. Kroll took the win going five innings allowing two runs on one hit and striking out 11.The Fairbury Landshark Juniors went 1-3 last week losing to Crete on June 6, 4-12.Fairbury would win in a shootout 18-11 against Chick-Fil-A where the Landsharks would rack up 14 hits as a team to fight out that win. Contributing to that came by the efforts of James Martin, Henry Judd, Brody Prellwitz, Jamison Runge, and Aldo Ramos each managing multiple hits while Ramos was able to go three-for-three to lead the team.Martin would pitch the Landsharks to victory lasting one and two-thirds innings allowing one hit and two runs while striking out one.The Landsharks would lose to Auburn on Thursday 1-7, and then Hebron on Friday in a close one 8-9.
