Listen To The Howling

There are advantages to living in a rural area.While heading to the Wellness Center the other morning I could hear the howling of a pack of coyotes.I stopped and just listened. The howl of one would start and the rest joining in, until they all were in harmony. Some neighborhood dogs joined in but this was a pack, doing what packs do, and it was amazing to hear.I didn’t shoot video of it, I didn’t record the audio. I just stood and listened.We get too caught up in technology. My kids watch a movie while watching TikTok videos or looking up snippets of information about that particular movie. Just sit and watch the movie. No need to analyze the film or write a 10,000 word essay on its significance to your life.There really is no need to take photos of your meals. You had a wonderful meal, enjoy it. Unless there is a dead rodent, maggot or roach in the food (or even worse, half of one) and you need evidence, there is no need to take a food selfie.I know a lot of people come home from work and the first thing they do is turn on the TV. Try not watching television for a night. A lot of people suggest shows to me and I thought about it, if I sat and watched all the shows they suggested, I’d have to quit my job and just sit at home watching TV.Spend an hour listening to the silence of the world: the wind in the trees, the ticking of a clock, the howling of the coyotes.
