Little Blue NRD Applies for Grant for Water Project

The Little Blue NRD (Natural Resources District) has announced the intention to file an application for federal financial assistance with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Rural Development, Rural Utilities Service. The project includes the construction of two municipal supply wells and water transmission lines for the Little Blue Public Water Project.
On March 30, 2023, the Little Blue NRD, on behalf of the Little Blue Public Water Project, submitted a Nebraska Water Sustainability (WSF) grant application to the Nebraska Natural Resources Commission (NRC) in the amount of $3,919,500 to help fund the construction of two municipal wells for water supply needs.
On July 19, 2023, the NRC announced that the grant application received full funding approval.
In 2021, the Little Blue NRD received approval of USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) funds for this project and the current notice of intent is to apply for subsequent funds to pay for the remaining $3,919,500 needed to construct the project. This subsequent grant/loan application to USDA is due Friday, August 4, 2023.
According to Scott Nelson, General Manager of Little Blue NRD, “It is anticipated that the average customer cost will be just shy of $65 per month for 6,000 gallons usage.”
