Host families were the John Thorps of Endicott, Richard Jarchows of Daykin, Arnold Ruhnkes of Plymouth and Lester Hansmires of Fairbury. 1965Jefferson County's second Pony Express marker, at that time one of only five in Nebraska, 5 ½ miles east and one south of Fairbury, was dedicated near the Rock Creek and Pony Express Station. A total of $3.107 was raised.Both the Lady Jeffs and Jeffs Fairbury Cross Country Teams qualified for the state meet to be held at Kearney.A four-point bull elk, weighing an estimated 800 pounds, was spotted twice in Jefferson County.2005“Jefferson County: Something to Crow About,” was the theme for the 2005 Jefferson County Fair.
