Marolyn Hein

Marolyn Re’Nee Hein, 69, of Fairbury, Nebraska passed away on Wednesday, April 12th, 2023 at Jefferson Community Health and Life Center. She was born on January 10th, 1954 in Canton, South Dakota to Clarence and Mabel (Linblad) Peterson. Marolyn grew up on the farm and spent her days after school horseback riding with friends. She attended Washington High School in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. On September 21st, 1979, she married Jerry Hein in DeSmet, South Dakota. They lived in Sioux Falls, South Dakota where they raised their children until they moved to Nebraska in 1990. Marolyn worked at Heritage Care Center in Fairbury for 20 years until she retired. She liked to spend her free time cheering at her grandchildren’s sporting events, fishing, camping, and reading. Friends and family were also very fond of her homemade baked goodies. Marolyn took significant interest in Native American culture and was a frequent donator to St. Joseph’s Native American School in Chamberlain, South Dakota. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Pete and Roger Peterson, and brother-in-law Gordon “Fritz” Belisle. She is survived by her husband Jerry Hein of Fairbury, brother Duane (Judy) Peterson of Sioux Falls, SD, sister Carolyn Belisle of Tea, SD, sons Todd Krieger of Syracuse, NE, and Troy (Micki) Krieger of Diller, NE, daughters Tawni (Derek) Young of Jansen, NE, Nicci (Jason) Sulzle of Vermillion, SD, Ali (Carson) Hein of Huron, SD, and grandchildren Alexa Klabunde, Camden Krieger, Brynn Krieger, Jayna Ashton, Mikayla Krieger, Jillian Caroon, Bailey Caroon, Jax Young, Jayde Hein, Marley Carlson, Eric Sulzle, Taner Hein, Heavan Gainey, CJ Gainey, and great-grandchildren Knox, Micah, Sabrina, and Nova, as well as many nieces, nephews, and other family members. 

A memorial service will be held at Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury on Thursday, April 20th, 2023 at 11:00am. Luncheon to follow at On The Bricks Venue (508 E Street) in Fairbury. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.  www.gerdesmeyerfh.com
