Mary Long

Mary Elizabeth Long, 80, formerly of Cedar Falls and rural New Hartford, passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at the Pillar of the Cedar Valley in Waterloo. Mary was born on December 16, 1941, in Cedar Falls, the daughter of Kaj Rudolph and Irene (Peterson) Fobian. Mary attended school in New Hartford, graduating from New Hartford High School in 1960. Following her schooling, Mary stayed at home and helped raise her four brothers. On December 3, 1983, Mary was united in marriage to Lowell Owen Long at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. The couple made their home on a farm north of Alexandria, Nebraska. Lowell passed away on November 4, 1999, and Mary moved back to the New Hartford area. Mary always enjoyed being outside, whether it was helping on the farm, tending to her flowers, or watching the birds. She also enjoyed knitting, embroidery and baking. Mary is survived by her brothers, LaVerne (Linda) Fobian of Cedar Falls; Paul (Janice) Fobian and Tom (Dorothy) Fobian of New Hartford; and a sister-in-law, Norma Fobian of New Hartford. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lowell and a brother, John Fobian. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly with Pastor Malinda Dean officiating. The family will greet family and friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home on Tuesday. Burial will be held in Oak Hill Cemetery, New Hartford.
