May Gives Way To June With Up-Tempo Baseball

The Tri County Sr. Legion was able to grab a tight victory of 1-0 against Fairbury on Wednesday, May 29 to end their month. Tri County was able to manage a mere three hits with those coming from Dustin Kapke, Cooper Stokebrand and Cobi Bales. Stokebrand was able to bring in Kapke in the top of the fourth inning as their only run.On the mound was Caden Bales going the full seven innings as he would go battle in a great pitchers duel as he finished with five hits allowed, no runs earned, no walks and eight strikeouts.Tri County now at 2-0 on the season looks to carry this as they’ll host Wymore on Saturday, June 8.Wymore At Wood Bat TournamentWymore goes 0-2 on the weekend at the Wilber wood bat tournament on Saturday, June 1st. Wymore would lose their first game by shutout with the final score reaching 0-9 against Wilber and would then lose 1-10 against Crete. A rough go at the plate as Wymore was only able to get four hits from the weekend with those coming from TJ Vitosh, Braydin Wendland, Zach Warren and Logan Penner.Wymore will look to bounce back at home as they’ll be hosting Adams on Tuesday, June 4th and then hit the road as they’ll take on Tri County on Saturday, June 8.Wilber Host Wood Bat TournamentWilber was able to grab a pair of wins during their Wood bat tournament on Saturday, June 1st. Wilber would pull of a shut out victory against Wymore as the final score reached 9-0.Carter Skleba and Garrett Nohavec were able to lead the team with two hits each and one RBI driven in as well. Skelba was able to lead the team with runs scored with three. Jack Zimmerman, Carson Radcliff, Cash Kesslar, Karsen Fisher and Ozzie Smith each contributed one hit. Smith’s one hit was a double and led the team with two RBI while Kesslar’s one hit was a triple that also contributed one RBI as well. On the mound was Nick Jacobson going six innings while allowing only one hit with three walks and six strikeouts in what was a strong outing. Wilber would then go on to win 12-4 against Smith County Blue Raiders. Against them Ozzie Smith would lead the team by going three for four with two doubles, and two RBI. Karsen Fisher was able to go two for three with three RBI while Jack Zimmerman also contributed three RBI going one for four and Caden Parham was able to bring in two RBI with one hit with that being a double. Carson Radcliff would also contribute one hit as well. On the mound getting the win was Lexand Baker going two innings while surrendering three hits and three runs while walking three and striking out one before Aven Smith came in pitching for relief going three innings giving up one hit and one run while striking out five and walking two. No final score was turned against Crete and Geneva. Landsharks On The HuntThe Fairbury Landsharks give a great effort but fall in shutout loss with a final score of 0-1 against Tri County on Wednesday, May 29. Fairbury managed four hits with Miles Tatro leading the way by going two for two while Christian Goeking and Blake Starr each contributed one hit each.On the mound was Blayne Schelbitzki putting on a great outing only allowing one run, four hits and finished with 11 strikeouts.Fairbury will be on the road Friday, June 7 as they’ll be facing SMC Post 140.
